I received my B. S. degree in Marine Vertebrate Biology also from SBU in 2007. From 2007 to 2008, I worked on a large scale hard clam restoration project in Great South Bay, NY run jointly by the Functional Ecology Research and Training Lab of the Department of Ecology and Evolution here at SBU and The Nature Conservancy. Working on this project enhanced my interest in ecosystem based management and taught me how to rapidly shuck clams! I also love to travel, and spent a semester in the Caribbean during a 9-week SEAmester program aboard a traditional schooner and a winter session course in Jamaica. I also traveled to Thailand and Australia for a few weeks during the year between my undergraduate and graduate education and Ireland this past summer. | ![]() Research Interests I am interested in fisheries ecology and ecosystem based management in both the fishery and restoration context.
For my Master's project, I am co-advised by Drs. Ellen Pikitch and Mike Frisk,
and am completing a regional comparison of unassessed and unmanaged
species. I am also conducting an assessment of potential fishery
interactions with these species in the Northeast region.
Additionally, I have an interest in mechanisms of larval dispersal
and/or retention, particularly in broadcast spawners. Publications R. Przeslawski and A. R. Webb. 2009. Natural variation in larval size and developmental rate of the northern quahog Mercenaria mercenaria and associated effects on larval and juvenile fitness.
