I am a Ph.D. student at Stony Brook University where I recently completed me Master's degree in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. I am mostly interested in microbial ecology and the interactions between microbes and pollution.  I am also interested in microbiological-physical interaction and biophysical modeling. My most recent work examined the microbial processes contributing to summertime hypoxia in Long Island Sound and the effects of pollution mitigation on phytoplankton communities.  This work was part of a larger project funded by NY Sea Grant to elucidate the relationships between biological and physical processes contributing to hypoxia in this system.  I am also interested  in  the use of microbial indicator organisms  and their implications for water quality in an urban setting.
