Game Reviews

This game was very innovative. The process of designing your own stages and characters brings a whole different experience towards gaming. Even though designing stages and characters have been around for some games, it was mostly electronic. Meaning, the player usually designs it on the game itself. However, in this game, the player is printing out the puzzle, drawing the level on paper (by pencil), and scanning it back to game. I didn’t even know this was possible until I actually played it. It was really fun and innovating. The visuals were not too bad and the sound was fine as well. It was especially amazing how the game took a 2d drawing and turned it into a 3d level in the game.
Now, for those people who don’t have a scanner or a webcam, this game is still playable. Instead of printing out the puzzles, the player can draw on the computer itself. So, this game is widely distributed. This is absolutely necessary for a game to begin developing and enjoyable. This game can still be developed into a more enjoyable game. For example, having puzzles other then drawing levels and characters. Maybe, it’ll be fun to create a whole level. Since this is a relatively new idea, this game can be expanded in many ways and may be highly successful. So in conclusion, the technological design was great, the visuals were great, and the sound was great. The game play still needs some work. It was also little hard to understand and play the game when a person plays for the first time. The player doesn’t know what to do and he doesn’t know the controls of the game. Therefore, it would be convenient to have a help screen and a controls screen. It won’t hurt to have some sort of story as well.

The game was very innovate and interesting. It has amazing game play. I especially liked the idea of how paint can be used as a main element in a game. It was first hard to control the movement at first. However, the player has the option the invert the mouse controlling which I found very useful. The game had helpful message that made it easy to understand play, even for a first time user. The game also has some sort of strategy. For example, you can erase paint to delete its effect (to jump). The levels were also very nicely designed.
However, there was one shortcoming to this game. It had no purpose. The player doesn’t know what is to be achieved by going through each level. By giving a story, the player would have an idea of what is to be expected. Giving a story gives game play some sort of purpose. Like most other first person shooter games, the player is allowed to change their can of paint. Another great aspect of the game is that each different color of paint gives the player different ability and the player uses this ability to progress through the game. The game also starts out very easy and gets harder as the player passes each level. So in conclusion, the technological design was great, the visuals were great, the sound was great, and the game play was great. The only thing missing was a story. This game can be expanded as well to include more varieties of paints. Maybe we can make the game longer or some sort of boss at the end. This is why the game can be a hot seller. It has all the functions of a good game and it can be expanded in many different ways.
