My major interests lie in shallow water processes and biophysical modeling. My academic background is physical oceanography, I also have a strong interest in the interplay between biological and physical oceanography. My current research is modeling and studying the seasonal hypoxia in western Long Island Sound biophysically.  My past research experiences focused on impact of tidal circulation and water transport to seasonal developed hypoxia in Long Island Sound.  As a graduate student of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, I hope to gain more experience in shallow water modeling and numerical analysis.

Research Experiences
School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences
Jan. 2010-present
At Stony Brook University, I worked with Dr. Kamazima M. Lwiza about the physical and biological reasons leading to seasonal developed hypoxia in western Long Island Sound. We found that the development of seasonal hypoxia in this region may have strong relationship with water and nutrient transport, water column structure and wind mixing.
Ocean University of China
Sep. 2003 -- June. 2007
My research at Ocean University of China is about global warming induced polar region sea level rise. I analyzed the seasonal and decadal variation of the Norwegian Sea area by using Polar Science Center Hydrographic Climatology temperature data. The translation between the temperature and sea level is completed through a one-D thermal expansion model.
