Themis Chronopoulos is an Assistant Professor of History at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.  He is also affiliated with the Department of Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Center, and the Program in American Studies.  His research focuses primarily on urban history and public policy since 1945 with an emphasis on race and inequality.  He is currently revising his doctoral dissertation entitled “Disorderly Space: Power Relations and the Postwar Decline of New York City” into a book.  He has previously taught at Miami University, Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, and the City University of New York, College of Staten Island, and has held a visiting position at the University of Cape Town.  At Stony Brook, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the history of cities, immigration, neoliberalism, popular music, and the recent history of the United States.
